SGAPS Ensemble Protection Sociale

Ensemble Protection Sociale (EPS) is a French social protection insurance group that brings together the Caisse Générale de Prévoyance des Caisses d'Epargne and BPCE Mutuelle. Its teams are split between Paris and Reims.

Move2Cloud works in Reims within the IT department, on the network and systems administration of an infrastructure hosted on the group's own sites, in France.

Client Challenge

EPS's infrastructure is hybrid and multi-platform. It brings together more than 250 Windows and Linux virtual machines across two sites, an IBM i system that carries the core business applications (contracts, memberships, benefit payments), and Windows workstations for the staff.

These systems carry provident and health insurance data: they must stay available, protected and restorable, under strict security policies.

The infrastructure is being modernised while it is operated. The mail system is leaving the group's Exchange servers for Exchange Online and Microsoft 365, without interrupting the teams' work.

The day-to-day operation of a heterogeneous estate therefore has to be ensured while supporting its evolution, across two geographical sites.

Move2Cloud provides EPS's IT department with a network and systems administrator, based in Reims, who covers the whole chain: servers, virtualisation, storage, network, backup and mail.

Administration of the server estate: Operation of more than 250 Windows and Linux virtual machines: application servers, infrastructure services and central management, on the group's two sites.
Virtualisation and storage: Administration of the virtualisation platforms that carry these machines and of the associated SAN storage, to guarantee the capacity and availability of the environments.
Network between the sites: Administration of the network that links the Paris and Reims sites and serves the staff's workstations.
Backup and restore: Operation of the backup chain: Veeam backups, a disk deduplication appliance, then LTO tapes, with backup monitoring and restores.
Mail migration to Microsoft 365: Support for the move from the group's Exchange servers to Exchange Online and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
Security alongside the core business systems: Application of the group's security policies to the administered systems, consistently with the IBM i environment that carries the business applications.

Conclusion

EPS relies on an infrastructure hosted on its own sites, in France, operated end to end every day: servers, virtualisation, network and backup.

In parallel, the assignment supports the modernisation of the foundation, with a mail system joining Microsoft 365 with no disruption for the Paris and Reims teams.
